Terms of Service

StrangerLine ("StrangerLine", "we", "us", "our") is an anonymous random chat platform connecting people worldwide through one-on-one text, voice, and video conversations. The service is accessible at strangerline.io and through associated applications and interfaces.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of:

• The StrangerLine website at strangerline.io
• All chat, voice, video, and media sharing features
• Account creation and profile features
• Payment and subscription features
• All content, tools, and services made available through the platform

By accessing or using any part of StrangerLine — including as a guest — you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.

3.1 Age Requirement

If you are under 18, you are not permitted to use StrangerLine under any circumstances. If we discover or have reason to believe a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their access and, where legally required, report it to relevant authorities.

3.2 Legal Capacity

You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement under the laws of your jurisdiction.

3.3 Geographic Availability

StrangerLine is accessible globally. However, if the laws of your jurisdiction prohibit use of platforms of this nature, you must not use StrangerLine. It is your responsibility to ensure your use complies with local law.

4.1 Guest Mode

You may use StrangerLine without creating an account. As a guest, you will be assigned a temporary session identifier. Guest session data is cleared when your session ends.

4.2 Registered Accounts

You may optionally create a StrangerLine account or sign in with Google. A registered account allows you to save conversations, send friend requests, message strangers after disconnecting, and access subscription features.

When creating an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Keep your account information up to date
• Maintain the security of your login credentials
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

4.3 Account Security

Do not share your credentials with others. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at support@strangerline.io. StrangerLine is not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized access caused by your failure to secure your account.

You agree to use StrangerLine only in a lawful, respectful, and responsible manner at all times.

5.2 Prohibited Behaviors

The following behaviors will result in escalating enforcement under our 3-4-5 reporting system (Section 8):

• Harassing, intimidating, stalking, or abusing other users
• Sending any unsolicited sexual image, video, or audio
• Impersonating another person, organization, or StrangerLine staff
• Sharing another person's private information without consent (doxxing)
• Discriminating against or targeting users based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic
• Promoting or glorifying violence, self-harm, or terrorism
• Spamming, advertising, or promoting products or services
• Sending phishing links, malware, or fraudulent content
• Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or interact with the service
• Attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the platform
• Attempting to circumvent bans, restrictions, or safety features
• Recording another user's voice, video, or image without their explicit consent

5.3 Your Obligations

You are expected to:

• Be honest about your identity, age, and intentions
• Treat all users with basic respect and dignity
• Use the report feature if you encounter conduct that violates these Terms
• Operate within the consent system for media and calls as described in Sections 6 and 7

StrangerLine operates a mandatory, affirmative consent system for all media shared during chats.

6.1 Per-Session Consent

At the start of every new chat session, users are given the option to accept or decline media from the person they are connected with. This consent is:

• Fresh for every chat — it does not carry over between sessions or users
• Binary — either the user has accepted media sharing for this session, or they have not

If a user accepts, the other user may send images or media during that conversation. If a user declines, the other user cannot send media to them during that session.

6.2 Secondary Layer — Blurred Images

Images received during a conversation are blurred by default and require a deliberate tap or click to reveal. Even if a user has accepted media sharing, they can still choose not to view any individual image.

6.3 The 2-Minute Request Timer

When a user declines a media request at the start of a chat, a 2-minute waiting period is automatically applied before the sender may submit another media request or initiate a call within that session. This is automatic and cannot be bypassed.

6.4 Prohibited Conduct Around Media

You must not:

• Attempt to bypass or circumvent the consent system through any technical or social means
• Pressure, guilt, coerce, or manipulate a user into accepting media
• Describe, hint at, or verbally preview the content of media you intend to send before consent is given
• Send media that goes beyond the scope of what the other user reasonably consented to
• Share any content involving minors under any circumstances regardless of whether the other user has accepted media

7.1 Non-Intrusive Call Requests

To initiate a voice or video call, you must first send a call request. The other user will receive a small, non-intrusive popup notification — not a full-screen interrupt — giving them a clear, unobstructed choice to accept or decline.

7.2 Respecting a Declined Call

A declined call request must be respected immediately and without argument. You must not repeatedly call a user who has declined, argue or pressure them into accepting a call, or use chat messages to coerce a user into a call they have declined.

7.3 The 2-Minute Rejection Timer

When a call request is declined, a 2-minute waiting period is automatically applied before the sender may initiate another call request in the same session. This is automatic and cannot be bypassed.

StrangerLine operates a structured, escalating consequence system based on verified reports from users and signals from our automated moderation tools.

8.1 How to Report

The report button is accessible during every chat session. You can report a user for unsolicited sexual content, harassment or threatening behavior, suspected minors, suspected CSAM, spamming, or any behavior that made you feel unsafe.

8.2 Report Verification

Our moderation team reviews every report for legitimacy, severity, and corroboration. Reports found to be false, malicious, or coordinated may result in enforcement action against the reporting party.

9.1 Cloudflare CSAM Filter

StrangerLine uses Cloudflare's automated CSAM detection technology. Every media file shared through the platform is compared — by cryptographic hash — against a database of known CSAM maintained by NCMEC and other child protection organizations. This process does not involve human viewing of content.

9.2 What Happens on a Detection

9.3 Your Acknowledgment

By using StrangerLine, you acknowledge that all media shared through the platform is subject to automated CSAM scanning by hash comparison, that this scanning is a mandatory legal and ethical obligation, and that we have no discretion in reporting confirmed CSAM matches.

Users who receive a permanent ban may submit a formal appeal for manual review, unless the ban was issued for CSAM or related child exploitation violations.

• Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the ban being issued
• Appeals are reviewed by a human member of our Trust & Safety team, not an automated system
• Possible outcomes: reinstatement, continued ban, or modified restriction
• CSAM-related bans are not eligible for appeal under any circumstances
• The decision following a completed appeal review is final

11.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you create and share on StrangerLine. By sharing content through the platform, you grant StrangerLine a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process, transmit, and temporarily store that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

You represent that you have the right to share any content you send through the platform and that doing so does not infringe the rights of any third party.

11.2 Our Intellectual Property

All platform design, branding, code, interface elements, and original content created by StrangerLine are the intellectual property of StrangerLine and its licensors. You may not reproduce, copy, distribute, or commercially exploit any part of StrangerLine without prior written permission.

12.1 Free Features

Core features — including text chat, voice chat, and video chat — are free and do not require registration.

12.2 Paid Subscriptions

Optional paid subscriptions unlock additional features. Pricing, billing terms, and included features are presented at the time of purchase on the platform.

12.3 Payment Processors

Payments are handled by trusted third-party processors:

• Razorpay — for users in India (razorpay.com/privacy)
• PayPal — for international users (paypal.com/privacy)

StrangerLine does not store, access, or receive your full payment card details.

12.4 Refunds

Subscription purchases are generally non-refundable once activated, except where consumer protection law in your jurisdiction requires otherwise. Contact support@strangerline.io for billing disputes.

12.5 No Peer-to-Peer Financial Transactions

StrangerLine relies on the following third-party service providers for core platform operations. These providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies:

Use of StrangerLine constitutes acknowledgment that your data may be processed by these providers as described in our Privacy Policy.

14.1 No Control Over Users

StrangerLine is a platform connecting independent users. We do not control, and cannot monitor, every interaction between users in real time. We are not responsible for the conduct, statements, or actions of any user on or off the platform. You engage with other users at your own risk.

14.2 Service "As Is"

StrangerLine is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, including regarding uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, accuracy of content, or fitness for any particular purpose.

14.3 No Guarantees About Connections

We make no guarantee that you will be matched with any particular type of user, or that any connection made through StrangerLine will lead to any specific outcome.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, StrangerLine, its operators, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for:

• Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Loss of data, communications, or expected benefits
• Emotional distress or harm caused by another user
• Unauthorized access to your account or data by third parties
• Any outcomes resulting from your reliance on the service

Where liability cannot be fully excluded by applicable law, StrangerLine's total cumulative liability shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to StrangerLine in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.

Nothing in this clause limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless StrangerLine and its operators from and against any claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any third party's rights, or any content you share through the platform.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these Terms that cannot be resolved informally shall be referred to binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (India), or to the courts of competent jurisdiction in India.

If you are a user in the European Union, you retain rights under the laws of your member state. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you cannot waive under applicable EU consumer or data protection law. For California residents: nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the CCPA or other applicable California consumer protection law.

We may update these Terms at any time. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. For material changes, registered users will be notified by email where reasonably practicable.

Your continued use of StrangerLine after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision will be deemed severable and will not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
